KCCI’s Marketing Helps Drive Holiday Fundraiser’s Success
KCCI Des Moines, Iowa, harnessed the full complement of its market-leading broadcast and digital properties to raise awareness for Food Bank of Iowa’s Hunger Free Holidays month-long campaign.
KCCI, Hearst’s CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa, helped launch Food Bank of Iowa’s Hunger Free Holidays month-long campaign with an all-day telethon on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30.
About 10% of Iowans — 300,000 people – don’t have enough to eat.
The all-day telethon raised more than $520,000, enough to provide 52,000 Iowans with a week’s worth of food.
KCCI harnessed the full complement of its market-leading broadcast and digital properties to raise awareness. The campaign consisted of on-air and digital public service announcements, newscast coverage, coverage on KCCI.com, and social media posts.
“Your support will make the holidays brighter for thousands of our fellow Iowans facing food insecurity, and the impact will stretch far into the new year,” says Michelle Book, Food Bank of Iowa president and CEO. “Together, you have provided hope and nutrition in equal measure for those who need it most.”
“I am proud of the team at KCCI for bringing together our broadcasting and digital platforms to provide a strong launch to Hunger Free Holidays,” says Brian Sather, KCCI’s general manager.
